The Perfect Bag

My journey began years ago, you are coming into it in the middle. Along the way I'll fill in bits and pieces that got me this far. I made my first cloth bag for myself when I was in high school. I was never big on "purses". I was the kind of girl that could go on a date with just my house key in my pocket. I needed/wanted a bag that would carry my books, my lunch, and whatever else I needed during the day. I wanted that bag to be something no one else would have. I dug through my mothers stash of fabrics and found a great tapestry she had left over from recovering the seats on the dining room chairs. I made a simple long handled messenger. The top folded over the body. It was fully lined using black linning fabric she also had left over from a different project. I loved that bag. It would hold anything I could shove into it. The handle was wide enough to be comfortable and allowed hands free carrying. When it got dirty I could simply throw it into the washer and wash it. It was for me, at that time in my life, THE PERFECT BAG. Somewhere over the years it was abandoned and lost. I've had a lot of bags. None have been that special since then. Just recently when I was making a bag for my shop I knew I had found my new PERFECT BAG. This is a picture of what is for me, this year, THE PERFECT BAG.
